overpowering by exterest, its possible abuse

There seems to be a difference between interest and exterest in the mentally ill person's mind in that interest is metabolically maintained by one person while exterest is maintained by the population. This results in a partial representation of a sphere by the vision, because one person's vision does not receive an impression from the full 4 pi r squared spherical area around it, and this limits interest to a partial nature in that way, while the exterest is fully 4 pi r squared in nature.

This difference give a great advantage to exterest over interest, and may be the reason mental illness is so overpowering. I had earlier given a proposal that this overpowering was a result of the growth of the median, through all radii which the median occupies as it grows. This earlier suggestion would seem to be weaker than the current suggestion, that it is the complete sphericalness of exterest that gives it more power than interest.

It also would seem that the same difference of extent would enable parties of such a mind to abuse the mentally ill to do so, because it might be possible to create effects that the mentally ill person cannot see, effects based in the part of the body which the vision cannot monitor. Until I suggested this possibility no one thought of it and if it is going on, it has not been suspected or looked for.

Why the mentally ill person hears voices only one voice at a time

It needs to be discovered why the mentally ill person's “voices” do not resemble a crowded room with everyone talking at once. Instead, the voices keep themselves to one word expressed at a time.

I believe the answer is in the shape of the sphere of interest. In the mentally ill person that sphere is filled with both interest and exterest. The exterest is where the voices come from. It would seem that the ability to create a word in the mind is a property of the sphere shape, and just as it limits the mentally ill person himself to one word at a time, so too it limits the exterest to one word at a time, even though exterest is populated by many people's roving essential atoms.

This solution brings us to another puzzle. Why are voices so much more powerful than the mentally ill person's own thoughts? His own thoughts always recede in deference to voices. I believe the solution is in an effect i will call “mission”. Mission arises in numbers—numbers of people responsible for the effect of exterest. While normal people only have exterest in their medians, at the outer limits of their spheres of interest, and therefore mission is not great enough to be easily noticed, mentally ill people have exterest throughout their spheres of interest, and therefore mission is pronounced. It carries the impulsiveness of the species' will to survive, a will which any one person does not individually shape, no matter whether ill or normal.

Vying for authority between a mentally ill person and a normal person

When a mentally ill person and a normal person converge on a place and the ill person attempts to engage the normal person in vying for authority over some functional aspect of the place, the situation in the mentally ill person's mind is one of logical links leading outward from the place in two strands, one interest type functionality for the mentally ill person, and one exterest type functionality effected by the normal person. In the normal person's mind it is all interest, because they have lots of pure interest type terest and carry this into anyplace where they have authority.

It is the ill person's only hope that he develop his interests in conflict with the interests of the normal person. The two strands are fundamentally different in quality and movement along one is unreasonable to the other, absolutely and without possibility for compromise. Only by superior scaling, bringing in a larger range of considerations and economies, can the mentally ill person prevail over the normal person in a situation where there is vying for authority.

The significance of this result is vast, for it applies to all matters regarding the handling of the mentally ill person's life by the mental health industry.

Normal people reject ways of mentally ill because they take more effort.

There is a natural inimicalness between interest and exterest, wherever they exist together, for normal people in only the median, bounded by inner and outer membranes, for the mentally ill throughout the sphere of interest, bounded on the outside by the outer membrane and having no inner membrane at all. This inimicalness produces a struggle, whether normal or ill, and this struggle takes effort to sustain. In normal people where the mixture occurs only in the median there is less volume where this happens and thus less effort involved in sustaining it. In ill people where the mixture is throughout the sphere, there is more volume where this happens and thus more effort involved in sustaining it. The accomplishments of the mentally ill therefore are won at great effort, compared to the case of normal people, and the result of this is that the whole lot of devices, from large to small, developed by the ill person to accomplish what he can are odious to the normal population because of this extra effort characteristic of the devices. The normal people can't sustain such effort. They're not endowed for it. It doesn't appeal to their aesthetics nor to their pragmatism, both being concepts way down the list on the mentally ill person's priorities because these are concepts developed by and for normal people.

Well, i suppose i should be discouraged, but i always turn to the global financial crisis as proof of the merit of my ways, though they certainly have neither aesthetic nor pragmatic appeal. The resources of the normal people are proven to reduce to less merit than mine, a single mentally ill person.

another author's different meaning for "exterest"

I have found an interesting (!) post somewhere that coins and uses exterest differently than I do. The post is here. This author discusses some of the things that seem to be true of interest to one general degree or another. None of it directly bears on my discussion.

mental illness, interest, and exterest--a special case

Mentally ill people, and I speak from experience, have a terrible condition in omniterest. Their entire sphere of interest is equal to a giant median because the inner membrane is collapsed to the very center of the sphere, leaving a median whose thickness is equal to the radius of the sphere. As a result, whenever other people enter the details of the person's interest, no matter how close to the center they get, the nature of the space there is exactly a median, and has properties of the domain outside the sphere and properties of the domain inside the sphere. The inside, however, being contracted completely inside the collapsed inner membrane, is terribly pathological and even though it may be controlled by medication, the medications available only serve to relax this condition and do not resurrect the inner membrane. All throughout the volume of the mentally ill person's sphere of interest, outsiders, because this region is a median in nature, will involve themselves in analysis of the person and will decide whether to remain interested or to depart, just as happens in normal persons' medians, but in the mentally ill this is the dynamic throughout the entire region of interest. There is no real inside where others want to explore at liesure and in comfort, without any pressing urge to depart.

the formation of the two membranes of the boundary between interest and exterest

The formation of both the inner and outer membranes, of the boundary between interest and exterest, must be an organic process, since we are talking about people's acquired capacity to interest others and that happens as a natural consequence of our metabolisms. How does it happen that the boundary between ourselves and others, which we think of as our "identity" out of the accumulated paradigm of mankind, now superceded by this picture of omniterest which I am promoting here, takes a two membrane form rather than a one membrane form? Isn't identity of normal people unitary? Well, the answer would seem to me to be that, one, the two membranes act in concert and are not two identities, and, two, that it would seem reasonable to conjecture that the timing of the formation of the membranes is that the outer one begins to form at conception and is constructed blind to the world during the time of pregnancy, the universe being guessed at through the medium of the mother's experience as impressed upon the fetus's experience, then at birth the construction of this membrane, though it continues, undergoes a dramatic change in nature because the intermediary mother is gone. at the same time, at birth, the construction of the inner membrane begins, and that one is directly based on the perceptions of the person himself. from the moment of birth, the essential atom expands the size of the inner membrane, pushing the outer membrane to expand just outside it, so that the child tries to get the most out of the mother's nurturing nature which permeates the home and the universe outside it, as qualified by the participation of the father, however that happens to occur.

terest, the undifferentiated potential for interest or exterest

A sphere of interest is a representation of a function of information, rather than a representation of information itself. The information which is the argument of the function certainly has a distribution which itself is a function of physical space--two memory locations in a computer have different locations in space and both contain specific information--but this information is not modeled by the picture I have given of interest and exterest, nor is its distribution in space. the persons who populate, so to speak, each sphere of interest, produce the effect of a setting off of a region of information as argument which does stimulate interest, and a region of information which does not, relative to a motile atom of essence, as I am somewhat archaically calling it, of any particular person. suffice it to say that information produces an extensiveness which produces this effect, irrespective of its nature in any other sense.

We have used the term "omniterest" to refer to the union of the region of interest with the region of exterest. It is dependent for its significance on the reduction of references to one center of a sphere of interest at a time. Omniterest may effectively summon up as its referent all of the space we are discussing, but it does so with the necessary division of that space into interest and exterest, and therefore it assumes one or another center of a sphere of interest is invoked to give that division meaning. We will refer to the space which holds this omniterest as terest, the undifferentiated potential for interest or exterest.

variation of size of boundary between exterest and interest, and the interspherical region

It is hard to avoid the conviction that the size of the sphere of interest varies greatly from person to person. We can conclude this for one thing because the details which constitute the interest aspect of a person certainly grow in number from birth to the prime of life, so from that standpoint alone people have different sizes of the sphere of interest just as people have different ages. but more than this, some people, for one reason or another, tend to accumulate details capable of interesting others at a great rate while others do so at a slight rate, thus adding to the variability of the size of people's spheres of interest.

It is inherent in the picture of the sphere separating exterest from interest that it separates the phenomena of on the one hand, experiencing details as interesting, and on the other, experiencing them as not interesting. Same details. different response. Essentially, we ignore the interest of the person himself in the details of himself. That is really just another form of detail, and as such it has a place somewhere in the sphere. the picture is of the dynamic of the movement of peoples' interest here and there, and the effect of this interpretation is that each person has an atomlike essence whose location relative to these spheres of interest of everyone represents what he is interested in at any given moment. It is exactly as if within the sphere of interest is generated a motile body of dimensions much smaller than the sphere, which can travel anywhere. It can travel inside one's own sphere, into the space outside its own sphere where it has some relation to other spheres, and can make a decision to enter someone else's sphere. When this essense atom is in the space between spheres it must prevent itself from entering where it might be unwelcome, and it must analyze spheres for their potential interesting nature, all done with a much less dense flux of information than when it is inside some one or other sphere.

This is quite a lot and we will take a pause.

elaborating the boundary between interest and exterest

Returning to the discussion of the generalization of interest to include exterest:

Anything a person does is by definition inside his interest. the only way to introterest what is exterest is by calculation, not interaction. This is true for r, the radius of the domain of interest, being much greater than delta r, the width of the boundary, so that delta r can be modeled as zero. interior to the boundary a certain type of interaction occurs, in some ways like inside, in some ways like outside.

Everything I have said so far about omniterest, or the union of interest and exterest, of a person can be said equally of a corporation, which includes universities. however, omniterest of persons and corporations depend on a certain substrate which is provided by a nation, so omniterest is not also true of nations.

An omniteresting entity which has in its domain of interest a phenomenon whose discovery would invoke events undesirable to the entity would maintain interior to its boundary repulsive effects for all outside entities. Once inside the boundary, free access everywhere inside is assumed.

All boundaries are considered to have a nonzero thickness, therefore we must elaborate terms for the boundary. At this juncture we note the correspondence of omniterest with the morphology of cells of plants, which have two layers at their boundary also. We will not use plant cell terms. instead we will call these the inner membrane and the outer membrane.

We will also be careful to refer to the region between membranes as the median, and to refer to the whole edifice of inner membrane, median, and outer membrane as the boundary.

We will measure the radius of a body of interest as the distance between the center and the outer membrane. All bodies of interest are assumed to be spherical. when speaking of the boundary we may refer to the distance between it and the center as the radius of the body, but this is only approximate and the approximation is worse the thicker the median is. In some cases the median may constitute nearly the whole interest body.

We used the term periterest previously to refer to the region near the boundary, inperiterest being just inside the boundary and experiterest being just outside it. Now these terms have to be clarified, namely, that experiterest concerns the region just outside the outer membrane and inperiterest concerns the region just inside the inner membrane, while periterest includes both of these and this necessarily does not include the median. When the median is modeled as being of zero thickness, then inperiterest is the region just inside it and experiterest is the region just outside it.

A blog is a representation of the whole interest body, both boundary and interior, but it is located, like all public phenomena, in the median. It serves as a means of producing introterest upon this representation, causing exterest to migrate inward in that representation, and, by means of certain keys in the blog, allow movement of people's interest to flow from the actual median, where the whole blog is, into the interior of the actual interest body where the actual person abides.

At the very center of the actual interest body, almost as minute as the nucleus of an atom is inside its electron shell, is a wholly different type of interest nature, namely, the viscera of the actual person. only the person himself and his lover are so profoundly interested in the person that these phenomena have an interesting quality, despite their indelicacies. more about this could be said, but indelicacy forbids here.

driving traffic to one's blog, interest and exterest

It occurs to me that English could do better for me talking about the process of driving traffic to my blog.

If someone is not interested in my blog, I call that exterest. He's interested in a lot of things, but they all happen to be other than my blog, insofar as he knows anything at all about it. So it's exterest, interest referenced to be outside my domain.

But if he is interested in things that happen to be near the border between my blog and the outside of my blog, I call that periterest--interest near the border. Further, inperiterest would be interest just inside the border, and experiterest would be interest just outside the border. The activities devoted to turning exterest into interest I would call introteresting, especially the case of turning experiterest into inperiterest, presumably the easiest because only small things keep it from happening, although the two are like night and day, experiterest may be near to being interested in my blog, but it's still absolutely not interested, just as much as somebody who is light years away from being interested.

Interest in my blog that is deep and unlikely to diminish i would call profundterest, near the center of the matter of my blog in interest.

I think this puts talk of blog traffic on a firmer talking foundation.

What are the properties of introteresting behavior? This is a fundamental question in addressing the problem of driving traffic to a blog.
